Nutritional Therapy and Functional Medicine
What is Functional Medicine?
It is personalised medicine that deals with primary prevention. It aims to seek and address the underlying causes instead of symptoms for chronic disease. We achieve this by looking at the interplay between health history, genetic predispositions, environment, physiological processes and where possible test results.
At its core it uses Nutrition as the main mode of therapy. Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of optimum health and performance, disease prevention and patient-centred care, using diet, lifestyle and, if necessary, targeted nutritional supplements to enable individuals to maximise their health potential.
Through a functional approach, we seek to identify clinical imbalances in the core systems of the body that underlie various disease conditions.
This comprehensive approach is used to encourage the body’s natural healing and immune processes, boost energy levels, improve mental well-being, restore vitality and achieve optimum health.
