October is World Menopause month the purpose is to raise awareness of the menopause, a natural process for all women that still has much taboo when spoken about, and support options available for improving health and wellbeing.
In support of world menopause month, we will have speakers discussing the tough issues that aren’t commonly spoken about on other platforms, but are of vital importance for all women, featured in a 1 day interactive event to set you up for success through your menopause and beyond.

10.30 am : Risk factors associated with Dementia with Patricia Shelton DipNT, IFMCP
Patricia will discuss the causes and risk factors associated with dementia, specifically Alzheimer's which is the leading cause of death for women in the U.K . She will go through the role of genetics, hormones and how our diet and lifestyle practices can optimise health and minimise risk, as well as what we know and don’t know about prevention and even reversal of cognitive decline.

11.30 am : Managing cholesterol through menopause with Nicola Shubrook DipNT, IFMCP
As we move into menopause, our cholesterol levels naturally start to rise as oestrogen levels fall but this can significantly increase our risk of heart disease. In this talk we will be addressing the link between hormone shifts and increased gut symptoms such as ISB, bloating, heatburn etc, as well as the role the gut plays in a smooth and healthy midlife transition with helpful tips to get your gut healthy.

3 pm : Creating a mindful midlife experience with Dr. Patricia Vriesendorp PhD
The menopause transition is a process which may be influenced by a range of psychological, social and cultural factors. The way in which menopause is discussed and constructed by society may heavily impact a woman’s experience of the menopause, with negative stereotypes influencing todays woman’s attitudes towards menopause and subsequently their experience of it. In this session we will discuss how we navigate Midlife with more awareness and ease.

Each speaker, an expert in their field will give you the most up-to-date and factually correct information so that you can flourish through your menopause journey. Each presentation will be 30-40 min with 15 min for Q&A
This information is not just for those who are in menopause, but will be of benefit to all women who may be approaching it in the near future as Pre-Perimenopause is an ideal time to begin or reinforce healthy changes in your life in order to support your menopause journey.
